Marvelous Cream

Marvelous creations

A Japanese native import, use of Kokkaido dairy products to make its gelato style ice cream, hand tossed on a -16 Celsius marble teppanyaki-style plate to create every scope of "happy" ice cream is: the 'Marvelous Cream'. Its first branch in Bangkok, at Siam Paragon Mall, also offers French-Japanese fusion, ready-to-serve, dessert cup (Patiscream ice cream cake) and ice cream sandwich (Heavenly Compote Waffle).

Taste? The Patiscream dessert cup is too sweet, while the Heavenly Compote ice cream sandwich is marvelous yummy, and the tossed gelato (I sampled mango, chocolate, and strawberry in separate visit) is flavorsome and not overly sweet.

Musical chair cuisine

I revisited this no-frills local eatery few days ago. The place is still as packed as it was. The food is still as solid as it used to be.

Maturos

.

Not all Yaowaraj eateries shine

I was brought to Maturos, a Thai-Chinese seafood eatery tucked into a shabby lane in the shoddy Yaowaraj, Bangkok's China Town. This non-air conditioned eatery is pretty run-down and the owner doesn't care about restaurant hygiene. Taste of food was just at average, though seafood was fresh, and lacking of some glory that might justify the relatively expensive bill at such no-frills eatery.

Kuay Tiew Reua Phra Nakhon

Miniature soup noodle feast

My friend brought me to a raan kuay tiew reua (boat noodle eatery) near the Victory Monument to sample bite-size boat noodles. There I noticed there is a row of four of such eateries serving bite-size boat noodles. We went to Kuay Tiew Reua Phra Nakhon, the first one by the main road.

Bite-size? Yes, I mean one bite to finish it. Here is what I ate.

Something Sweet

351
.

Sweet tooth pleasure

Something Sweet is a fast growing cafe cum cake shop, with four branches in Bangkok and counting. By perception I guessed that this kind of locally owned cake shop is just another high-so hobby, and she bakes her cakes from recipes found in cook books with a taste of ultra sweetness with no merit. I confess. I am wrong, again!

Unexpectedly, cakes of Something Sweet have a very good texture and full flavor but not overly sweet, with the hints of the use of quality ingredients. I would say her cakes are light and easy, a pretty nice dessert place with charm.
