Hi TC,
So you mean this is only the date you did this post but not the date you went to this restaurant?
And if I have been there then I cannot tell where then. I think it is SEA's job as he is a frequent visitor to BKK.

I haven't been to Silom area lately. The only few restaurants I have been to might be Saladaeng Cafe by Jim Thompson. I would guess this is a restaurant around that soi 1 Saladaeng area as it's quoted as in upper Silom area. Thai Issan food... mmh...

Stella said...

So Saladaeng and Thai Issan Food is in northern part of Silom area then.
Let me ask my Thai friend.

in the sea said...

SS. Soi saladaeng is in the east to south east of Silom area. From the look of this restaurant, it may be in the soi Saladaeng or the side soi 1 of soi Saladaeng. The other soi of upper Silom may not be in this style as shown on the photo.

Stella said...

Yes Mi,
Lots of new stuffs to be posted here lately. You shall read more often.

Thailand Club said...

the restaurant is not near the beginning of Silom Road, it is actually quite close to Bangrak

in the sea said...

I see. Upper Silom is on the other side. I thought it's on the side close Rama 4. This one looks like it's in the quarter of that Heritage Bann?

Your guessing game here is very limited to local Thai people, unless you can at least give out 10 choices for the non-locals to have a wild guess.

Thailand Club said...

okay here r 10 choices:-
1. Bangrak Royal Thai Restaurant @ State Tower
2. Sala Rim Klong Restaurant
3. Je Ngor Seafood (Bangrak main branch)
4. Cafe de Laos Thai-Lao Cuisine
5. Kalpapruek (original branch)
6. Silom Pochana on Silom Soi 15
7. Thanying Royal Thai Restaurant
8. Talingpling on Pan Road
9. Bussaracum Royal Thai Cuisine
10. Ruen E-sarn Restaurant

take ur guess!

I cannot scroll down on Hong Seng so cannot read.
Not sure my problem here or your blog's.
Let me try Sea's now.

in the sea said...

My guess is no. 4 Cafe De Laos, though I haven't been to any of the above places.

Thailand Club said...

Stella, it is not my blog or yours desktop. It is your browser provider! Either IE or Chrome has reading problem with Blogger since yesterday. If you also installed Mozilla Firefox or Flock in ur machine, use them, then my blog can be read as smooth as usual.

for the restaurant guess,
SS, is it #1 or #6?
Dick, is it #5 or #9?

Sea, thanks for the guess. I know u guess the CSI way.

Thailand Club said...

i found out Sea and Chris blog does not have the same problem

i can read them smooth on Chrome and IE; so it is my blog problem from Blogger

still, u can read thaisclub on Flock or Mozilla Firefox

:)

Stella said...

OK. Will go to Firefox now and try.

Stella said...

Yes when I use Firefox your blog is ok now.
Thank you TC for the IT service.

FYI, since IE has launched its IE7, some of my business affiliates can't log in and work with my company central computer server in Hong Kong, my IT company told me "never upgrade to IE7" as it has too quite many bugs and even worse than the previous IEs. So I am still using IE6. Not sure if I should go back to Wordstar, Wordperfect or Lotus 1-2-3 later on because the Office 2007 does give me a headache when someone doesn't know how to save their word doc. in 03 version. If I accidentally open that 07 version word doc file, then my 03 version word will automatically keep bombing you for upgrading. So I need to re-install my MS office package. If it's not a MS stuff world for business, I would forgo PCs.

TC, yes, I may be affected by our CSI friend, and I will how I made my guess, if it's correct. I just simply checked the blog posting on the whole and got my guess.

Mi: is that because u use Firefox or Flock as browser? not IE or Chrome

or actually u r on MAC

TC

Stella said...

Mi had firefox and Chrome(but I
don't know what that is).

Stella said...

OK, I want to guess the one SEA guessed too.

One question for SS. Does Mi visit ur house very often?

Mike

Stella said...

No Mi does not come often although he is in LA.
Do you want him to fix or upgrade the computer for us?

Anonymous said...

No, not about to fix the computer.

Just about IP address.

MIKE

Stella said...

Mi is the one I told you he paid for $1000 US per person to visit BKK from HK.
He is also the one mentioned about elephant dinner show.
I ate with him today too for his auntie's birthday.
He and his son visited us and stayed over night sometimes.

Thailand Club said...

yes, it is Cafe de Laos

real Lao food in Bangkok, in luxury setting

Stella said...

So nobody guessed right though. What a different kind of restaurant here.

in the sea said...

SS, as you said you would follow my guess, that means my guess for Cafe de Laos is the answer. My guess is simply on the whole posting since the labels already mentioned "Lao food". Among all the choices TC posted those other restaurants seemed not to serve Laos food; so the straight guess is Cafe de Laos.

TC, I tried a few times on the "miang goong" and sometimes they use fresh shirmp and sometimes use dried shrimp. Are these 2 the same or different? This one is quite nice and I like the green mango in it as it does go well with the crunchy peanut taste.

Soi 19 is around Holiday Inn Silom, right?.

SS, take a few minutes to read instead of just browsing through is a kind of de-stress after work, for good health, slow down ur beat

Sea, of course ur guess is correct. On 3:01am u did comment that ur guess was no.4 Cafe de Laos

miang is a kind of amuse-bouche of Thai accent require chewing cooked and raw multi-ingredients in the mouth (ur mouth as a blender, burst them in one savory taste) with the miang kum sauce, the one used with dried shrimp is miang kum, and the one put fresh cooked prawn there is miang goong

normally miang kum is an amuse-bouche and miang goong can be served as mains

:)

Khor Khun Ma Krup for the detailed explanation! The first time I tried this was on the Marriott dinner cruise which MO recommended and referred to as MO dinner cruise was under "maintainence". I kind of like it and the second time I tried was that one xxxx Sorndaeng (pretty close to the Grand Palace area and that one is rarely on your list due to the heavy traffic jam and not easily accessible). Yes, I like the blast of the taste of miang kum when we blend it in our mouth!

Yes, SS, pls slow down a bit. Mr. Trainer and I noticed you walked even faster than Chris, him and I on the other day. He and I wondered what made you hurry in a holiday mood?

Anonymous said...

rush to buy all souvenirs lor! unfortunately part of them (a whole suitcase of pork stuffs) went to customs

:)

Stella said...

Hi SEA,
Yes I used to walking fast as all my co-workers here do. If we don't walk and do things fast we have to stay after 9 pm at work. I am serious. That is why I said I fit into HK life style. I am the one who will give them a "look" for walking too slowly.
If you watch the speed my little boss walk and talk you will be amazed. By the way he is ABC though. (Please do not comment further on this.)
T.C.
By the way, my friend's souvenirs from Taiwan are also gone at LAX custom as they recognised the 3 words Sung Tung Yang.

in the sea said...

Yes, but SS, please switch modes depending on the occassion. Just like when I work, I type faster than I speak (but much too fast to have typo mistake. :)

So if I am at resort mode, I will be extra slow and take breakfast for 2 hours. Time is luxury... :)
