Neil's Tavern Bake Shoppe

325
.

Piece of cake

Arguably Neil's Tavern is one of the country's pioneer steakhouses, and the first (true) Western standard non-hotel steakhouse in the Kingdom. Fewer (people) aware that the little house adjacent to the steakhouse, is Neil's Tavern Bake Shoppe - one of Thailand oldest quality bakeries. The fact is, before a bunch of quality European cake shops sprawling to Bangkok (after the Millennium), Neil's Tavern Bake Shoppe was one of the first non-hotel bakeries that those cakes taste like cakes.

Krua Chumsai

BANGKOK AMAZING GOURMET
.

Nostalgic palace cuisine

A few (Thai) restaurants named after the noble surname Chumsai (of Chumsai na Ayudhya), tend to classify themselves as palace cuisine. One remarkable "Chumsai" is the Krua Chumsai on Soi Ratchakru. The decor, the menu and even the clienteles are nostalgic (yes there we share joyful ambiance with big-hair noble ladies in groups chatting with friends of the same, and singing live band karaoke, songs from the 40's - 70's).

Thanks to the inherited palace recipes, food at Krua Chumsai is unparalleled delicious, some dishes serve at Krua Chumsai are (quite) exclusive.

1. spicy sausage; 2. dips of preserved crab in coconut milk

3. Thai hors d'oeuvres (they are good!)

4. wok-fried eggplants and crispy pork fat (so good very good!)

5. deep-fried sea bass in spicy and sweet mango dressing

6. spicy and sour chicken soup in blackened broth (pungent hot, yummy!)

7. four-color flour balls with hot-spring egg in coconut milk

khao-chae @ Erawan Tea Room

322
.

Too much, so much, very much! (click separate word for 3 mv)

Three days water splashing celebration during Songkran (Thai New Year) ended. No more water gun shooting. No more splashing water to people. No more water pouring to me. So hot! Time to eat khao chae to cool down the heat, again.

Today, I went to the Erawan Tea Room. Not for the renowned Thai afternoon tea set; but of course, my baby honey loving too much so much very much of the month - khao chae. It is not the best in town, but decent, inexpensive, and convenience (location wise).
