The Iron Chef's cuisine
With stunning view overlooking the Rajprasong lifestyle hub, Su Tha Ros, is an elegant and classy Thai restaurant at the Muse Hotel Bangkok that serves time-honored Thai cuisine with a modern touch. For a few visits I did over the year, young chef culinary presentation did live up to expectations.

Cafe Primo by Sandy

Farewell the cafe
Cafe Primo, owned by a food enthusiast dessert chef - Ms Sandy, also a Le Condon Bleu graduate, had fixed me many meals while I lived in the nearby neighborhood few years ago. Since I moved to another corner of the C.B.D., I now seldom eat at this pond-side restaurant. Until recently I picked up a rumor from my business source, that the landlord - the Crown Property Bureau, of whom Cafe Primo leased the land from, will summon that the land and the Cafe has to be vacant before the end of December (yes, this year). A couple of days ago I returned to see my old friend - Cafe Primo, and did the last supper for the cafe.

Krua Nai Baan

BANGKOK AMAZING GOURMET
.
Welcome home
While I lived in the Soi Langsuan vicinity, I passed by Krua Nai Baan (Home Kitchen) quite often; but I have never sampled her food. Rumor spreads from some of my friends that this Thai cum seafood restaurant is expensive and lack of culinary passion, thus a place to accommodate tourists and bad-taste diners!
I puzzled. For years I see Krua Nai Baan is always full house; seven days a week, whether it is full moon nights or rainy days, the restaurant is always packed. So I decided to ignore those big-mouths' advise. Proven that we shouldn't listen to rumors, and eating is believing.
Funny that fusion French restaurant La Table de Tee (on Soi Saladaeng) didn't serve amuse-bouche (at least on my previous visit she didn't!), but a Thai restaurant - Krua Nai Baan does. Oops not only food is of satisfactory old-school quality, but service is also (almost) impeccable kind.

yum sam krob THB 80 (spicy salad with crispy fish maw in shredded raw mango)
yum ta-kai THB 80 (lemongrass herbal Thai salad with prawn)

chu-chee goong klam THB 450 (medium size river prawn in chu-chee curry sauce)
pla gao tord sam ros THB 700 (deep-fried live grouper in spicy 3-taste sauce)

live grouper (deep-fried) in spicy three-taste sauce

gaeng liang THB 150 (vegetable curry soup with pumpkin and prawn)

phad pak yod mara THB 80 (stir-fried bitter gourd stem and leaves)
icy cantaloupe on bed of sago with coconut milk THB 50

Calderazzo Bistro

BANGKOK AMAZING GOURMET
.
Hearty Italian fare in Bangkok
OMG I could never imagine that I will eat at an Italian restaurant that doesn't have its attached kitchen (but separately built miles away in another building), or the chef from the kitchen greets his customers with his jeans and cowboy shirts (but not proper chef attire) on, or plays middle-eastern music (but not jazz nor Italian easy listening) in the dining room , or serves local lettuce (but not Roman lettuce) in my Caesar salad.
The friendly and no-frills chef happened to cook our (every) orders right and has his good hand on sauce; and I am happened to loving this place, with hearty fare and casual ambiance to spend an easy evening with good friends. Sooooooo good!
If Calderazzo Bistro is too "mini" for you, or you expect a bit more sophisticated dining experience; her elder sister Calderazzo Ristorante Italiano is just 50 meters away (towards Chidlom).

seafood salad THB 260++ (fresh salad, real prawn, not frozen one, good dressing)
Caesar salad THB 250++ (funny, chef had local lettuce to replace Roman lettuce)

parma ham pizza THB 350++ (Roman style, medium-grade parma ham, good value)

ministrone THB 180++ (lots of veggie, mild seasoning, it is real soup, not msg water)
lobster bisque THB 250++ (forget to sample, i think it is good as my friend enjoys it)

seafood pizza THB 290++ (nice crust, fresh seafood, cutter fish not chewy)

ravioli spinach THB 340++ (nice ravioli, tasty sauce, good one, very filling)
risotto mushroom THB 350++ (taste good, risotto overcooked, chef likes Jap rice?)

panacotta THB 190++ (texture rich, sweet mild, pretty good)

Jamaica rum chocolate ice cream THB 90++ (although not home-made, but good one)
chocolate foundant THB 230++ (better than frozen one from supermarket!)

A friend away from home
There is a restaurant, food is okay although not distinctive, when price factor taken into account there wins the top prize as a good family restaurant in the area.
There I spent many afternoon alone or with associates while I did my first luxury condo project in Bangkok, there I spent countless lunch while I resided on Soi Langsuan, there I started my travel business by signing my first agency contact with the Centre Point Apartments Group, and most important is there I found memory of smile and chatting with friends, including p'Ning.
There, the Coffee Shop at Centre Point Serviced Apartments Langsuan, a revisit to her last night was like seeing an old friend being known for decades, so warm!

1. spicy glass-noodle Thai salad (yum wunsen)
2. red curry with beef

3. fried flat rice noodles in gravy (rad-na)
4. stir-fried kale with crispy pork

5. pan-fried sea bass with white sauce
6. pork cutlet on Japanese rice (ka-tsu don)
