The great mini
Bangkok's foodies lover - the Minibar Royale has a mini Minibar at the Emporium (for a few years already), and it is, arguably, the most creditable full service cafe in the entire Bangkok's mall food scene.

The great Hu cuisine
The three-decade old Great Shanghai is a longstanding Chinese Shanghai cuisine (a combination of Chinese Jiangsu and Zhejiang cuisine) specialty restaurant in Bangkok, though its food is far from outstanding, it is the only authentic and banquet-grade Shanghainese restaurant present in Bangkok.
Two decades ago, while her food quality was good, I ate at Great Shanghai quite often; and for now, I eat there only once every five years. A few weeks ago I went there to exercise my 'every-five-year' duty and I found that her wok-fried Chinese eel in garlic and dark gravy and the sour and spicy soup are so good not to be missed.

A matter of tea
My favorite coffee shop at the Emporium - Salon de L'Oriental had gone, and is now replaced by the TWG Tea Salon and Boutique, a Singaporean tea vendor since 1837. There they offer food that can be elegantly stuffed into our stomach (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and afternoon tea) with a manner of a tea infused touch and a hint of French., besides their renowned selections of tea.
My friends and I found that their food was generous in sodium and pastries were high in sugar (higher than today's Bangkokian standards, and very high against top patisseries standards). Price is modest, and service is flawless since they kept the original team from the Salon de L'Oriental, except the trainees need an intensive training for their face movement - smile.
TWG Tea Salon and Boutique at the Emporium is definitely 'my cup of tea' to meet friends (or even to tea alone) during an afternoon tea hour at the Sukhumvit area, though it may not be my first choice to dine at.

.Khao-chae, again! After too much khao-chae enlarged my little tummy, I went to a Mandarin Oriental's outlet for her classic summer dish, food of my fond.
And, it was khao-chae, again!

There are three parts to khao-chae - parboiled rice, jasmine scented icy water, and tidbits or side dishes. Celebrity (Thai) chef Vichit Makura of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Bangkok has a good hand in the jasmine scented water (icy), as well as the tidbits for khao chae. At Sala Rimnaam, Mandarin Oriental's Royal Thai restaurant, khao chae serves (only) during lunch, on the buffet table. I don't like Sala Rimnaam Thai buffet; and, I don't like the all-you-can-eat concept for khao-chae. I prefer it is served elegantly in set, not self service. Luckily, the Hotel's other outlets, came to my rescue. Khao-chae at the Salon de L'Oriental (at the Emporium), and L'Escape de l'Oriental (at Siam Paragon), served in set. Available throughout April.

Fare of VenusA long time favorite for Bangkokians, Bharani since 1949, this pioneer restaurant offers her affordable well-loved dishes at a more convenience location - the Bangkok TCDC.
1. Caesar salad THB 150+, generous servings, good quality, taste on the weak side!
2. ox tongue stew on rice, happened to be ox tongue swimming in Maggie sea!
3. green curry chicken, flavorsome, creamy, good to go with kanom-jeen, taste good!(don't know why so many TH restaurants serve green curry with roti, usually came out oily and mushy, locals don't make them right, it is Indian and middle-eastern people strong hold, so I appreciated Bharani serves green curry with kanom-jeen noodle)
4. chicken pie, similar to those from Villa Market
