BANGKOK AMAZING GOURMET
.Phoenix in the fireMy most favorite shabu-shabu joint Mo-Mo Paradise was down in the "red" fire last month. I miss her. As Mo-mo offers best value all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu with a market style vegetables bar; for just Thai Baht 399++ Mo-Mo serves melt-into-mouth beef from Australia and hygiene pork products by S.Pure.
Fortunately we don't have to mourn on losing Bangkok most favorite shabu-shabu joint too long as Central World Plaza is scheduled to reopen in September 2010. If one couldn't wait any longer, then head to her new branch at Crystal Design Centre in Ladprao for a round of authentic Japanese shabu-shabu with melt-in-the-mouth beef on demand.

.Hero in a meringue specialty shop!I don't eat meringue often. To me, eating meringue is like eating baked sugar in bulk. Besides, I don't enjoy its chewy texture.
I like mousse. To me, eating mousse is like eating the combine of foam and air bubbles, it is playful. Most important is that mousse will not hurt my teeth.
At Mousses & Meringues, my favorite item is neither meringue (of course) nor mousse, it is her strawberry short cake, only available during weekends.
Once try, you could not get away from her, never!

.Heat that screw into our heartsSome friends complain that those Thai restaurants chosen in our reviews were too tourist-friendly, meaning the food was mild on heat but not spicy enough!
Therefore, for the next few weeks I will show you the color of Thai cuisine.
First one in the roll, Thung-Prig Thung-Khing on Kaset-navamin Highway. It shall pronounce theung-phrik theung-khing. Meaning the heat (can refer to either spicy food or political fight) shall screw into your heart! So, are you ready for a spicy journey?

.Thai E-sarn RestaurantThai E-sarn Restaurant serves almost the best Issan grilled chicken in Bangkok. Presentation of the grilled free range chicken (gai-baan yang) didn't look excellent on the plate, but the taste was. Chicken was marinated to the right taste yield full aromatic from various Thai herbs and seasonings; succulent meat was tender, not salty but full of favor. Best to describe the chicken is aroi ma ma (or very delicious).
Grilled pork neck in Issan namtok dressing (nam-tok kor-moo-yang) is always my favorite order in any Issan eatery; in Thai E-sarn Restaurant its version didn't disappoint me. Another must order in an Issan eatery shall be the spicy raw papaya Thai-style salad (somtum Thai). Thai E-sarn somtum Thai did pass the mark. The shredded raw papaya and ingredients were fresh, with nice heat (spicy), sour and salty in good balance.
Deep-fried snake-head fish with Issan herbs in fish sauce (pla chong leoi-suan) is also a popular dish in an Issan eatery. Since I am not into snake-head fish, my deep-fried leoi-suan fish changed to sea bass (pla kapong) on requst and it came out with satisfying. Stir-fried squid in salty eggs (pla muek khai khem) maybe seafood that promotes high cholesterol. In Thai E-sarn Restaurant the salty eggs sauce stir-fried with the squid was just too delicious to be true, having us willing to forget the cholestrol index for a while!
But not every dish was heavenly tasty in Thai E-sarn. Our Issan spicy and sour soup (tom-zaap) had no favor. We felt like sampling boiled tap water with chilies, white pepper and extra salt in a bowl. Worst tom-zaap I ever sampled in Thailand.
The whole meal costed us less than Thai Baht 1,000 ($30).
All in all, dining in Thai E-sarn Restaurant was pleasant!
