Hong Seng

BANGKOK AMAZING GOURMET
.

Rim nam chill chill riverside

Hong Seng by the Pak Kret Pier, a five decades old community restaurant offers a breezy riverside cum countryside dining atmosphere, is renowned for the freshwater catches the Chaophraya (River) has on offer. I traveled almost 100 miles to Hong Seng due to dear recommendation by a celebrity chef, TV host and food critic McDang (M.L. Sirichalerm Svasti). Taste of food here is definitely local, heavenly spicy and sinfully salty.

1. phlaa goong salad; 2. deep-fried marinated chicken with salt and lemongrass

3. grilled river prawn (Baht 450 each); 4. stir-fried bitter gourd

5. tom yum goong; 6. kra-tawn (santol) loy-kaeo

not only dine by the river, but also dine on the river!

Very nice and romantic restaurant.

good to have it back. I am somewhat amazed that I miss their deep fried chicken though it's a bit dried and salty... interesting.

2 hours traffic time, oh my goodness. Worse than LA.

Someone wanted to tell you your blog's downloading time is amazingly fast.

well Bangkok is famous (or infamous) for the bad traffic la :)

Bad traffic is universal just depending on the degree.
I may spend one good hour to W. LA from Pasadena on weekday but only 20 minutes on weekends.

Yes, even in some modern cities like Tokyo, you can spend 3 hours on the bus coach to hot areas like Shinjuku if your flight arriving at Narita at around 4-5pm. Even at Beijing, no matter how the Gov't has been building the 4th and 5th and 6th ring to divert the traffic, it's still a problem when the population is blooming. Of course, it's the typical problem in HK too.

Do you know where can I find Erawan Tea Room from your label here on the left?
Good that I see your email about your updated slide show as I cannot find it here from the label.

i didn't tag post by restaurant name, i tag them by food type and location ... only

Hi TC,
More photos today.
I like the word heavenly spicy and sinfully salty. And they also rhyme.

So what label does Erawan Tea Room belong to? As I cannot find it
under tea room or high tea category. It is good that you notify your readers whenever you have update on old posts so we don't miss it.

Wow! Nonthaburi is quite a distance to travel for food, but it looks like the effort was well rewarded with beautiful and sinfully delicious food! Lovely setting at the riverside too! Now I know what I'm missing!

Stella said...

Thank you TC. It is smart to put Erawan Tea Room under different label so that more people will get into this under either one of the three label.

I would recommend we should eat more steamed rice to go with the food, just like our old time ascendants and/or the locals (not sure if they do the same) if possible, unless the steamed rice is like those of Lai Po Heen MO KL.. :)

Stella said...

Yes SEA, Especially when we eat with spicy or salty food then we shall eat steamed rice(but not fried rice) to balance.

and drink some hot tea (not iced water)

Yes, if possible, take some water melon to drain out the "water" in your body.

being Thai, the lime soda works best

I think they will like this one as well.

too far!

You are right. If too far then drop this one. They hate long ride or traffic jam as Tim is hyper like me.
