Italian Tomato

Bona fide fusion cuisine

When Italian meets Japanese, the cuisine becomes exciting. Italian Tomato, the decades old Italian restaurant and bakery chain with a Japanese twist, is renowned for its Italian + Japanese bona fide fusion cuisine in Japan, has also gained a certain popularity in Southern California with branches in food centers and supermarkets. Before I relocated to Bangkok, I used to visit an Italian Tomato cake shop at least once a month for her cakes, they are fluffy and soft, light and flavorsome, and it is the kind of cake I (exactly) like; but the food, is not on my 'like' list.

I always wish that Italian Tomato may (sooner or later) come to Thailand, and a long wait for more than a decade had become reality since last year. The first Italian Tomato cake shop has landed in Bangkok's Central World Plaza, followed by the Italian Tomato Restaurant & Cafe, a latest addition to the Central Plaza Ladprao.

A long waiting after all. The shops are still some people's favourite in HK.

Wow the Italian Tomato, a hot name in the 80's in HK. Just knew it also has branches in California, may be in the Japanese community!

@Stella: if u consider South Bay region (e.g. Torrance) is in L.A., then Italian Tomato shops r in L.A.

in fact Torrance is more "L.A." than Pasadena ..

Italian Tomato also has many branches in HK and Taiwan, very international chain.

Torrance is next to Redondo beach, very nice area and I prefer this one to those busier beaches like Venice or Santa Monica...etc. Actually Torrance/Redondo/South Bay area are very local LA as it has lots of "sunny" shops and restaurants over there.

yes, Sea, South Bay is very local LA, this area is the culture and root of sun-rich LA ..

Thank you TC and Sea for the note.

OK, I will tell my friends at Torrance to try this place although this is too far for me to go.
