Tan Tan Men

BANGKOK AMAZING GOURMET
.

The real thing

Recently there are too many ramen outlets opened in Bangkok sharing the cake of Jap food scene. Some claimed to be direct from Japan but came here only to embarrass citizens of the rising sun. Some bought the franchise from Japan but without enthusiasm to boil a bowl of ramen right. Some just worse, purely imitation by locals.

My choice. Good ramen joints still honor to the old guns. Ramentei in the south of Bangkok's Silom and Surawong area; and Tan Tan Men in the east of Bangkok's Sukhumvit area. Of course Sagano and Yamagoya are also in my list of favorites.

I like the ramen in BKK, 90% of what I tried is good. In fact, most of them better than the famous ramen Ajisen in LA. Ajisen is very oily and salty and not cheap(about $9 US).
It used to be a long line but now only 50% full. And the price dropped to $5.99 on weekday lunch special.

I like ramen too. But now new shop sell very expensive. Usually about 200 baht a bowl.

well well Ajisen (味千拉麵) has 5 times outlets in overseas than in Japan (only around 100 branches in Japan, mostly in Kyushu 九州), so don't know this brand for the Japanese or for the foreigners!!

having a total of 600+ branches around the world, u can imagine that it run like a fast food chain, and it tastes nothing better than fast food ..

You are right TC.
That is why Ajisen dropped very fast since 2009 due to competition.

Aijen's outlets here even vary from shop by shop. There are some extra salty. The best is in the basement of Windsor house, of course I mean at the level of Aijsen. :)

So this shop Tan Tan Mien is in soi 33 Suk, opposite to Novotel Lotus?
