Khao-moo-daeng Lao Yang

.

It is moo!

A 'talk-of-the-town', a khao moo daeng (barbecue pork on rice with gravy) vendor on Silom Road, Lao Yang, happens to be average. Its bamee nam (egg noodle soup) with wanton and barbecue pork toppings is much better.

For barbecue pork, within this price range there are many better choices in the city.

"Wong Fu" is the best in BKK for wonton noodle soup and Char Siu; also the only one better than those in LA.
All the others are as good as those here but not better.

The iced tea looks very Thailand.

I noticed the pork and beef in Thailand aren't those like in Canton province. The pig and cow are more "hard working" and so the meat is hard too. :)
So with gravy, there is a quarter "lo shui" egg and without gravy, a half egg. I would ask for "no gravy" anyway.

right, the no-gravy was for me, and the gravy one for my local friend .. of course .. :-)

No wonder the meat here is soft in general as the pig or cow or chicken no need to work at all.

Yes the BBQ pork in noddle soup looks tempting to eat.

Hi Anonymous 0142,
Yes there is Wong Fu in BKK located at the new trendy mall King Palace.
The wonton noodle soup, congee, and the char siu are as good as those in HK Wong Fu.
