Nobu
BANGKOK AMAZING GOURMET
.
In sashimi we trust
Bangkok has Nobu. But it is not the same one took fame in the US and Hong Kong by celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa and Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro.
Nobu by Nobu Matsuhisa is renowned for its innovative Japanese cuisine. Oops don't say fusion J-food, he is more happy to hear the word "innovative". While the Nobu in Bangkok, run by a group of local Japanese chefs, try hard on traditional Japanese cuisine with Osaka twist. But both have one common point. As, both attract local clienteles other than the applause from Japanese expats.
1. hamaguri buttter (boiled butter clams) THB 180+, plump & sweet, broth salty!
2. kisu karage (deep-fried silver sillago/whiting) THB 180+, fresh, crispy, good!
3. sashimi matsu THB 1,200+, fresh, big chunk cut, common kind of fish, overpriced!
4. nasu dengaku (grilled miso glazed eggplant) THB 100+, cheap miso, lack depth.
5. tempura mori (deep-fried battered prawn) THB 240+, good batter, good frying oil.
6. oyakodon (chicken rice) THB 200+, not tender, local rice, cheap seasoning source.

Wow copy Nobu in Bangkok! If they have something in common maybe the fusion Jap food. Oh Nobu says it is innovation cuisine.
I like fish. I love sashimi.
Something new here.
Yes Fish Burger, I think the common thing is the Japanese food and the sashimi TC trust.
Innovative Japanese cuisine. In fact, the original Japanese food is fusion, like sushi, ramen, and okonomiyaki...etc. So I guess he knows it well and call it "innovative, hehe..
The fish here looks fresh.
The price of $70 US for two is already above the US level.
Is this the one with salmon in an iced dome that you asked us to guess?
@Stella: that one is here http://thaisclub.blogspot.com/2010/01/nanohana.html
@Stella: this is an overpriced restaurant, for the deep-pocket high profile government officers and businessmen that don't mind to eat in a "cheap" environment or fast-food outlet ambiance ..
Thank you TC.
Yes, this restaurant is very over priced. Even in LA the better J Restaurants are cheaper than this one.
Finally, glad to see something overpriced and not worth the value in BKK. :)
the THB 1,200+ sashimi boat is like a daylight robbery, usually in real Japanese run restaurants such price of sashimi boat may incl. at least a kind of ebi (such as ama-ebi pink shrimp), and uni (sea urchin), or salmon roe, or akagai (but not the cheaper hokkigai clam), or sea scallop or all of them .. but at Nobu, just common kind of fish, tako, hokkigai and kurage (jelly fish) .. cheaper stuffs
these local J chefs shall open Thai restaurant (at least it is their native cuisine) and charge tomyum at THB 1,500, pad thai at THB 1,200 or stir-fried morning glory at THB 800, if they dare ..
they should not insult the name nobu, it means trust in Japanese, but these ppl hv no trust
Mmh.. trust in how expensive they charge... :)

Yes, trust that BKK also can have over priced restaurants too.
