khao-chae @ MoMo Cafe

Khao-chae, continues

Tea time, I went to MoMo Cafe of Courtyard Hotel Bangkok for the wood roasted sping chicken. Found out the khao-chae set is on her April special menu, at THB 250++ per set (for one person).

During April (while khao-chae being served) I eat khao-chae as much as I can. Some serve real good khao-chae sets, but the icy rice soup serving is stingily mini and the portion of tidbits being too much.

At MoMo Cafe, the set came with generous portion (good for two persons, at least) of soaked parboiled rice in icy jasmine scented water, separate ice cube in a small bowl, and of course, tidbits.

I like the decent serving, but not the taste. Sad! The icy rice soup, I suspect the chef didn't follow strict traditional recipe but only pour food aroma to make up the jasmine scented water. The tidbits, maybe were sourced from a market, precooked.

summer khao-chae set, THB 250++, only available in April

Guess again? Ok fun.

Khao chae in a small hotel Courtyard? and in a 24cm big pot? I think it is stew dish.

A 24 cm pot is quite big, a portion for 4 persons, can be Chinese noodle pot, soup or Western meat stew.

May I guess it a week later? :)

right, it was served in a 24-cm (10 inches) porcelain pot, so u guys need to think of something BIG pls ..

Oh that means SEA will go there to eat in a week?
How many people shall eat this pot?

TC, may I ask you a key question. Were the knife and fork being placed according to your dish ordered, or the waiter gave you this set of knife and fork on your request?

Mmh... Momo cafe serves quite a menu from burger, pizza, pasta...etc., or some sea bass, tuna or pork loin...etc. I would suggest it's a pesto pasta with beef filet. :)

@Stella: the food in the pot shown is for two persons, or can feed up to four of those eat little like u

@FishBurger: very good question, u really hv some CSI mind, the knife and fork as well as the spoon, were there for the food i ordered, not on my special request to "show" u guys ..

@Sea: u still remember some of MoMo's menu, but pasta served in a pot with lid is not quite realistic though ..

Thank you TC for the hint.
Thank you Fish Burger for your good question.
If the spoon, knife and fork are there for the food TC ordered, then I guess this is some kind of noodle soup type or pasta with stew or Khao Chae.

Hehe.. it's under my influence on how pasta was served in an Asian bowl by Another Hound. As it's with a knife, I thought it was related to something to be cut.

I guess, it is French stew pot au feu.

Stella said...

Yes I guess it is chicken pot.

The second pic may hint it's not a main course meal. Something like a snack or light meal.

Haha... Khao Chae again... I think TC may post some Japanese setting and asked us to guess again though it's a Khao Chae as the answer. Very naughty... but we need more of this. :)

Khao Chae again as I thought as this is the Khao Chae month.

After all this is khao chae again! Good that khao chae only eaten in April, otherwise TC will only post khao chae in his blog!
