Gai-ton Pratunam

The power of pink

Gai-ton Pratunam (a.k.a. Khao-mun-gai Pratunam), arguably one of the Kingdom most cherished Thai-Hainanese chicken rice vendors, serves moist and tender yet bouncy chicken meat on bed of flavorsome chicken fatty and stock flavored rice. It is the pink shirt one, not the (copycat) blue shirt, as quality wise they are hundred miles of difference though by distance these two shops are only 50 meters away.

order a portion of (small, big, half or whole) chicken and "oily" chicken rice
separately is the best way to enjoy the Thai-Hainanese chicken rice

Wow 4-star for this huh.
Is this the one I came here before? Or this is the one that our Angel liked so much?

4-star is because her very budget price + chicken + rice quality factors adding together, deserves 4, if her one dish chicken on rice costs THB 200 per serving, than only 3 stars :-)

and if Starbucks drinks cut 50% in price, i will also rate her 4 stars or 5 stars :-) Starbucks service alone deserves 4+ stars

Yes, price, service should be linked and counted on the rating. Let's say if the prices are cheap, we can't expect much services, but if services is good, then it's a or half "star". I like this shop and it was the first chicken rice I tried in BKK.

I've tried this chicken rice shop too, good quality, for 30 baht a dish, shall have more than just 4 stars.

You guys are right, price shall be one of the factors of the grading.

That is why most of the restaurants in BKK deserve 4 star-rating. And MO and Le Normandie deserve 8-star rating.

That is why hotels overall in BKK are rated high in T&L and other magazines.

Always make a point of stopping here when I'm downtown. Definitely one of the best.

My other two favorites are Pantip Khao Mun Gai, a new shop across from the IT mall, and a cart, turned shop at soi 25 Sathupradit Road, Yannawa.
