King's Palace

BANGKOK AMAZING GOURMET
.

King of wonton soup

Finally I eat my share of aroi-ma-ma crispy and moist roasted goose (real goose, no duck) and a bowl of real Hong Kong congee in the heart of the City of Big Mango.

One of Hong Kong renowned high-end noodles and congee restaurants quietly landed to Bangkok, serving Bangkokians top quality roasted goose, barbecue pork, crispy pork, congee and of course wonton soup with noodle as well; if it is not King's pricing on her dishes a bit off us Thais general spending power, I would have given her a 5-star rating. But considering the quality of food there serves, King's Palace deserves this price structure. Fair enough!

If you are fans of roasted meats and authentic Hong Kong tearoom feast, then King's Palace is a restaurant you couldn't afford to miss.

1. soup noodle with wonton THB 150+; 2. real Hong Kong congee THB 150+

Just like you told in Ah Yat the other days, their cost goes to the hiring of a quality chef from HK. That's why they can't lower the prices to a more locally affordable level.

This place has the best wonton noodle soup, but kind of over priced.

Jan Dull at HK airport has the best congee.

Jan-Dull style congee is like having us drinking rice drinks, not eating congee, i don't like ..

Now you have King's Palace in Bangkok. Lucky you!

There are 2 types of congee. One is the conventional "high heat" boiling without covering for over 1.5 hours. Best to use the "broken" rice (碎米). You can still see some tiny rice in it. This one smells very "rice" aromatic. The other one is the newer cooking style to cook "rice" powder into some "paste" like congee. It's in a smoother texture but not that rice aromatic. From what Mr. Mickey described, he prefers the former one.

Those on the photos look very nice. Good to see something very Cantonese in BKK. :)

I like everything at King's Palace and the congee at Jan Dull.

fyi, 正斗粥麵專家 or Tasty Congee and Noodle Wantun Shop, is in the Michelin HK Macau Guide 2009

Thank you for the note TC.
No wonder Jan Dull is so good. He deserved the award from Michelin.

I still like King's Palace congee and wanton more, although Tasty is cheaper and awarded 1 star Michelin listing.

正斗doesn't make the wonton noodle right. The noodle is too loose in the soup and as a result it gets soft very quickly. Check the photo of wonton of King's Palace. it should be like this. That's the classic way of wonton noodle.

i just ate a bowl of wonton soup noodle at King's Palace tonight, together with (real) chicken congee and crispy pork on rice

consider the quality and ingredients, actually price is reasonable (to me), but still, not to general Thais consuming power; they shall make some price adjustment (and heavy PR work) in order to survive, otherwise we will keep witnessing her shop quite empty (i am the only customer) at 7:30pm on a Friday night .. lucky at 8:30pm when i am about to leave, 3 more tables were filled .. hope it is the rain affect her business ..

sigh, heavy rain again in that area!

Though we may not be able to eat there as often as we can, we will try by supporting them. When people see no one or a few ones in the shop, they would hesitate to try. That's why later on 3 more tables were filled when you were about to leave. Mmmh... but we can't sit there like spending time at the cabana of MO's pool.

well spending time at MO pool side cabana is SS priority job in MO-BKK:-) hehe

Business in King's Palace picking up well, sometimes full house during lunch/dinner hour, the wealthy locals love authentic roasted meats, price is just secondary to them. King's Palace is on the right direction.
