California Dreaming
A friend from the West coast asked if there is any Californian cuisine available in Bangkok. CA? East meets west fusion twist in harmony!
Where in Bangkok we can find the likes of Mixed Sashimi, Pan-fried Goose Liver with Apple and Balsamic Vinaigrette, Fried Wonton Dumplings with Ginger Sesame Dressing, Angel Hair Pasta with Chiangmai Sausage, Grill Rib Eye Steak in Chipotle Chili Gravy and Deep Fried Grouper with Ponzu Sauce in one restaurant?
In Circle we found the answer.
Main course, the waitstaff recommended the Baht 320++ Crispy Half Chicken with double blanched Garlic Butter Sauce. The chicken claimed to follow the recipe of California celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck appears tender and flavorful, though compare to the Michelin two-star Spago in Beverly Hills our Crispy Chicken is definitely another story. But Circle only asked for $11, fair enough!
To round up the pleasant dinner, Home-made Green Tea Ice cream (Baht 120++) is the only choice of the night.
Service? Dee ma ma although a bit slow in reaction, but truly polite and the Siam-smile kind.

Nice dishes. Is the restaurant's name on the top section. I just read the message "loading..."
The slide show is as great as the dishes here.
My reporter friend said she is impressed and also scared of your blog and SEA's.
I think the name of the restaurant is called "Circle California Fusion Cuisine".
haha Sea was watching this post while i am loading the page :)
Aha California cuisine. Look good. Taste good?
They sure look good and look Californian.
I like the Siam-smile kind of service. Thai people and the service is pretty good. Their smile is genuine and sincere.
I see. Californian way is to adapt part of the locals with some others in a sunny way. Why sunny? Orange chicken - orange reflects "sunny". "Chinese chicken salad" - Chinese seldom eats uncooked veggie but Californians do and fresh green represents "sunny". Californian sushi roll - definitely it's the "sunny" look. :)
Tommy, taste is okay gar! they charge only canteen price, so surprise nowadays we still can get more than we pay ...
I like In-the-Sea's comment on the Californian "sunny" cuisine.
What a creative interpretation.
Yes the price of "Circle" is cheap for this kind of fancy setting and good dishes.
By the way, Spago in Beverly Hills is so so. It is still good but not as good as Lord Jims or Normandie. Just the Old Pasadena standard.
Old Pasadena standard? but Spago has 2-star bor :-)
That means Old Pasadena standard is not bad at all. They are similar to Angelina(the one inside Shangari-la Hotel.
Don't forget Phoenix also get the Michelin Award too.
Phoenix gets the 1-star because it is a HK tea room :) HK style tea room cuisine is very unique gar
